Opening Remarks by IRA President, Ron Tazelaar.  Recap of IRA’s busy year in spite of COVID-19 – Electronics Webinar in May, C&D Recycling FINES Webinar in August, Annual Conference in September, formation of the Illinois Recycling Foundation (a 501c3 non-profit), formation of a C&D FINES Task Force, two (2) communications to Gov JB Pritzker (1) urging that the recycling industry be designated as “essential” and 2) urging that reusable bags be allowed once scientific evidence proved that COVID-19 does not live on this type of surface.

Presentations by James Jennings of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA); Jennifer Jarland, Kane County, providing an update on the Contamination Task Force; Greg Maxwell, Resource Management Companies, with an update on curbside recycling markets; Sanjeev Bagaria of GDB International leading a virtual tour through GDB’s paint recycling facility in Nashville IL and a presentation from Sanjeev and Heather P of how they navigated through COVID-19; Jessica Miller, IEPA, spoke on the Municipal Electronics Recycling Program and Justin Woycke, Chicago Textile Recycling & Wipeco, enlightened us about textile recycling in the Chicagoland area.

The Illinois Recycling Association conducted its Annual Meeting, announcing and voting on the slate of nominees for the Board of Directors, presenting a recap of the budget for the fiscal year 7/1/2020-6/20/2021 and presenting Kristina Kaar with the Steve Apotheker Recycler of the Year Award and Gloria McDonald, IRA Administrator, with the President’s Award.  Click Here to Read Press Release for Recycler of the Year Award
